Twistology

Twistology is the official debut solo album from Ollie Twist. The release was limited to 1,000 CD's on June 17th 2003. The production of the album was split between music company Mental Instruments and Ollie Twist himself. Every track was recorded at Twist Blade Studios in Vernon, Connecticut. The music was recorded primarily on a Roland VS-840EX digital 8 track recorder. There are no feature artists on the album aside from guest vocalist Kristen Laurence on three tracks. Twistology is a clean album with no explicit lyrics.

Twistology earned very positive reviews from other musicians in the local community and paved the way for the 2004 Rhyme Skeme group effort Organized Rhyme. Revenue generated from sales of the album was used to finance future projects and further develop the company's overall vision.

Ultimately Twistology captured the hunger and energy of a new artist introducing his character to the listener with topics ranging from the autobiographical to the political. The production is mostly upbeat with a fair balance of dark instrumentals and positive notes throughout all 16 tracks. The material is clever and slick with vocals that are expressed with both clarity and confidence.

No longer an amateur, this project solidified Ollie Twist as a serious MC with strong artistic work ethics. Thematically Twistology is focused on the importance of rhyming skills and intelligence in the hip hop realm.
